Vicio will be playing at Rebel NYC (251 West 30th St. (Between 7th and 8th Ave. New York, NY) on December 10, 2009. They'll be playing a 45 minute set showcasing new material that they've been working on.

Pseudo Slang is Emcee Sick and producer Tone Atlas. Hailing from Buffalo, New York, the duo has been closely followed for more than a decade garnering international praise for creating music that steps outside contemporary rap standards by implementing jazzy melodies and dirty funk breaks.

In 2004, Pseudo Slang self-released Catalogue, which serves as a compilation of tracks recorded between 1999-2004. Shortly following the release of Catalogue, the interest in PS grew very quickly, and after talking with many labels, the duo in August 2005 signed with Fat Beats Records based out of Brooklyn, New York.

2006 saw the release of Pseudo Slang's critically acclaimed Broke & Copasetic featuring songstress Vinia Mojica. This track started a buzz around the globe leading to domestic and international tours with the likes of Jeru the Damaja, Tanya Morgan, and Masspyke. Roc Raida Tribute Concert At BB Kings

On Thursday, October 22nd 2009, there will be tribute concert in honor of Grandmaster DJ Roc Raida at BB Kings featuring world class battle DJS and turntablists. It's time to celebrate the life, artform, and legacy that legendary DJ Roc Raida left behind.

The Grand Master Roc Raida Tribute at the Tableturns Reunion will bring together many of the biggest names and crews in the art form of Turntablism including Raida’s fellow crew members from the X-Men and the X-ecutioners; fellow World DJ battle champions: Craze, A-Trak, DJ Shiftee plus DJ Scratch, DJ Dummy, DJ I-Dee, The Beat Junkies: Babu, J.Rocc, Shortkut and Rhettmatic; DJ Slyce, Roli Rho, DJ Z-Trip and a very special performance by MC legends: D.I.T.C.! Tickets are $20 in advance at Fat Beats NYC, the BB King Box Office and through ticketmaster, $25 at the door. Doors open at 10:30pm. The show begins at 11:15pm! Back to School Movies, Hosted by Extra Butter!

This past Friday I attended Back to School Movie night @ Extra Butter, a clothing/sneaker store located right off of Merrick Road in Rockville Center (For those who actually live on Long Island). I've been a fan of the store, not only because they have some of the most exclusive clothing and shoes on the East Coast (very literally, my friends), but because the people who own and run this store are cool, super friendly people.

I'm gonna hold off on the rest of my experience at Movie Night for when I actually have the pictures that go along with the crazy evening. But if anyone is a fan of John Hughes, dope ass clothing, and a great interactive movie experience, you should definitely attend this or next weeks showing. Hope to see you guys there!

Jay-Z Performance clips from All Points West '09

SOOOO like I said before, I've been busy moving into my new place (which has no phone, Internet, or cable TV at the moment) and it has slowed down my ability to post all this goodness I have on my hard drive/digital camera.

Great Moments not caught on camera: Memphis Bleek came out and reprised his role of Jigga's ultimate hype-man, the civil rights montage of Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King Jr., and President Obama during "My President is Black", and Jay pointing out about 50 fans and thanking them, and everyone for coming out and supporting. I'm kinda mad I never got to see this guy perform earlier in his career.

Other than almost having to beat the shit out of a fat kid, the Vicio Show was a great night! It was great seeing the crowd's reaction to how hard these guys rock on stage. You don't see many acts these days who can still channel the energy of a good rock show. Here are some shots I took when I wasn't busy taping the performance. Street Envy Featured @ Sneaker Art Exhibit!

It's a wonderful thing to see our friends flourish and become one step closer to their dreams. On that note, Manny from StreetEnvy (peep the link on the right, y'all) informed me that some of his pieces will be on display at this Sneaker Art exhibit at 1158 Dean Gallery in Brooklyn this upcoming Saturday night (8/8). BPT @ Rock the Bells '09

To make a long story short, my brethren Mr. En?gma and I were invited back stage to the Rock the Bells concert event at Jones Beach Theater. Much respect and appreciation to his older brother, DJ Dummy, for allowing us to enjoy the concert in the fashion we did. Highlights of my day were being in the same area as artists such as Truck North, Naledge from Kidz in the Hall, getting to meet the Legendary Pete Rock and watch in amazement as my friend sat and talked to the likes of Common, Talib, and Pete in a fashion many would probably sacrifice a limb for.

I attempted to be as unnoticeable as possible, trying not to take super in-your-face pictures or anything that i felt would have really annoyed an artist trying to relax backstage - one of the few places you are allowed to just chill before performing. Also much respect to Elzhi of Slum Village. I was walking passed him and couldn't walk by without letting him know that i think hes one of the dopest lyricists walking the planet. The guy is a super nice and humble dude, and the stage was so loud i just exchanged brief words with him, in which he informed me of the new SV album dropping this Fall.

Other highlights included the Nas, Damian Marley set with special guests AZ, Pete Rock, and The LOX coming on to rip it for a few tracks.

Black Thought At BBHF '09

What can I say? Black Thought is venomous when it comes to the rhymes. He's one of the MOST SLEPT ON MC's! He's hardly quoted in Urban Magazines creating the "Hottest MC In Hip Hop" or "Best Lyricist in Hip Hop" as being Top 5 Alive. Philly, always has dope MC's who know how to spit.

And if you missed the Brooklyn Hip Hop festival because you were afraid of getting wet (fun fact: umbrellas were made in Egypt B.C.)or your girlfriend didn't let you out of the house, go smack yourself. Real Hip Hop was in the building! Not that water-down stuff you constantly hear on the radio or on the Mile.

Record Store Day - Travelin Circuitz@Jeremy's Ale House

Saturday, April 18th was this year's Record Store Day. People were urged to go help the economy by supporting their local vinyl-selling stores, either through financial or moral means. Dub-CX and his partner Reginoff Jimbrowski host a bi-monthly DJ show at Jeremy's Ale House on the Mile. It's a very refreshing change to go to a bar not have the typical 40 songs in rotation as every other bar in the world. The crowd wasn't your typical body of barflies, however some were in attendance. Mr. Garcia invited me to be his partner in a game of beer pong, so i dusted off the arm and surprisingly carried us to victory on the first game. Regi was blastin some funky bumpin music the whole night, everything from that shit reminiscent of House Party days to some gems and rarities. Dub's set was a journey through the music I love to listen to. I was a little tipsy but i definitely remember some Dilla in the mix. Unfortunately, "authorities" came and we had to shut down the show earlier than expected. I really would have liked to listen to the rest of the shit J wanted to spin, but the hand came down hard. However, i do think the night was a success. Attendance was good, music was live, good times were definitely had. Their next show at Jeremy's will be Saturday, May 9th.

Night at the Museum

Thursday night i was supposed to see Flying Lotus at Club Love with Johnny. To make a long story short, I'm glad i was too pressed for time to go that night.

Instead, i accompanied my homeboy to the Museum of Natural History on Friday, which was hosting performances by FlyLo and another DJ by the name of Kode9. The Rose Center was its usual blue-lit cube encasing a giant sphere, however there was a nasty thump that could be felt as we approached the museum. Once inside, i couldn't help but feel a bit awkward and out of place as i saw crowds of swank and swagger. As we took the Cosmic Course, (a winding staircase with planets and fun factoids for those who missed the 4th grade school trip) I noticed what seemed to be a bar with 4 well dressed gentlemen standing at attention. Throughout the crowd little tables were strategically placed and the large bottom level acted as the pit. The crowd ranged from business-types who looked like they just got out of work and decided to take a stroll trough the museum, to those really BAD smelling kids who like to wave their arms funny and damn-near pass out from overheating. It was weird placing my Budweiser bottle on a display of the solar system i remember inspecting as a child, I must say. Kode9 had just started his set when we arrived, and the crowd was starting to trickle in. I don't really know too much about this guy but he seemed to have a very good taste in music. Johnny noticed a few Hudson Mohawke tracks in his mix and the crowd was vibing pretty heavy off him. This was not your typical hip hop show by any means, and FlyLo is farthest from typical hip-hop.The stage had one of those image jumbling machines which was in sync with the equipment to a certain degree so the spot definitely was setting the mood of the show.



After about an hour I noticed FlyLo lurching around the stage. Slowly but surely the transition of DJ's was complete and Mr.Lotus took command of the boards, or board should i say. From what i saw his only real piece of equipment was an MPC. Regardless, he ripped it with that little box; playing favorites such as Parisian Goldfish and Tea Leaf Dancers. Flying Lotus has a pretty solid command of his technique, however i do believe there weren't enough of his fans at the spot. People who haven't really listened to his arrangements wouldn't be very excited watching him perform them the way he does. Regardless the set was enjoyable and the cuts were on point. I caught a video of him playing that Milli remix he did but its so dark and low quality with sound i didn't want to post it here (can see it on my YouTube page tho).

The best part about this whole thing was that if you got kinda bored or restless, there was shit to do and see. The museum aspect kicked in while you walked around looking at trippy spacey lights being reflected on the ceiling, or walking around the Rose Center and looking at moon rocks or pictures and displays of all sorts while still LISTENING to the music you came to hear. Me & J definitely took full advantage of this and went on our own space odyssey.

As the event was wrapping up, Kode9 took command of the boards for a little bit. Johnny and I had migrated to the backside of the stage only to notice FlyLo chilling in the cut once again, this time about 5 feet right in front of us. We both noticed the golden opportunity; as i turned around to get J's attention homie was already taking out the Los Angeles Double Vinyl he had brought along, red marker in hand. I watched as brethren went over and tapped Flying Lotus' shoulder, asking for his tag. When he came back i read what it said and bugged the fuck out. Shit was written in the stars.
