Get Familiar: Mayer Hawthorne

Each week, I'm planning on exposing and sharing with fans and followers of BPT an up and coming artist or band, either unsigned or signed to an indie or major record label that's creating significant amount of buzz or has talent, in my opinion, to create buzz in the future. In this first edition of Get Familiar, I introduce you to Mayer Hawthorne, a soul artist on Stones Throw Records label. With influences from music legends such as Isaac Hayes, Barry White, and Smokey Robinson, he creates music that's both refreshing and a reminder of soulful r&b reminiscent of the Motown era.
